Riverwalk, San Antonio TX & The Squirrel

After we checked out Ryan's Church we all headed to the Riverwalk. We ate dinner...

watched the boats, checked out a couple of stores, ate cookies, the boys climbed on and over every rock they could find...

and Joel caught a squirrel!

THE SQUIRREL

That's right the boy caught himself a squirrel! We couldn't believe it. He'd been trying to catch animals all day long, ducks...pigeons....cats...fish, but of all things, he caught a squirrel. He was so proud....

And really, we were too.

Of course I spent the next several days checking every bit of information I could find about rabies, on-line, Ryan's Dr., The Texas Department of Health, and through email with The San Antonio Department of Health. All of them, even the 4th Dr's opinion says...no worries.

G-Diddy

We spent the day with Ryan, AKA G-Diddy. First we headed to his Church to see his new building which is amazing - lots of gadgets and gizmos. Clearly there was a lot of planning and preparation to make such an amazing worship space. If you're ever in San Antonio you'll have to catch one of Ryan's worship services at University UMC.

Ryan spent some time playing with the boys - letting them test out his airhogs. We all had a blast.

Nashville Capitol

We're headed back to Texas so Paul can meet with his District Board one last time before Graduation. This is the big one - they'll need to re-certify him (they have done so unanimously every year so far) and to recommend him for commissioning at our next Annual Conference (that's the big deal part).

On our way we stopped in Nashville, TN to get our family picture in front of the Capitol.

"The System"

After being "lost in the System" for about a year we've been found. : )

In September of 2006 we began the certification process for Foster Care and after we completed the course, had our home-visits etc and had everything completed (or so we thought) we were lost. Then early this year the new Case worker started going through old files and found us.

So now that we're found we took our names off of the Foster to Adopt list and put our names on the Adopt only list. We're not sure that we will be matched with any children before we leave Kentucky - if not then we'll just have to start the process over in Texas. All in God's timing.

HE IS RISEN!

We had a great Easter - our first in Wilmore. We were going to visit with Paul's parents in OH but they got a new dog that week and thought it might be too much stress for the puppy to have the boys at their house so we stayed home and had a great Easter with our Family.

We had Easter Bunny Bread for breakfast....

Opened baskets, went to church, and had a special dinner.
Great way to celebrate our Risen Lord!

Wilmore Egg Hunt

We nearly froze to death at the Wilmore Egg Hunt but we still had a good time; and I think the candy haul the boys made will last them until Halloween.

The Allen Men with the Scariest Easter Bunny we've ever seen. You can't really tell by this picture but his face was all mashed in. Weird.

Joel's Easter Party

I had the day off for Good Friday (one of the reasons I love working at the Seminary :) so I got to go to Joel's school for the day. They spent most of the day celebrating Easter...making Easter Bunny Baskets, having egg hunts, relay races, egg toss games, and a cupcake & punch party!

We had a great time. Here's Joel's class - he's the one in the back - I think you can see the top of his head. : )

Maundy-Thursday Service

Asbury had the most Awesome Maundy-Thursday Service that I've ever been to. We'd love to take this with us to "our church". These are mostly professors at Asbury, a student played Jesus and the President of the seminary was Peter. Amazing.

Palm Sunday

Joel sang in the Children's Choir in Church for Palm Sunday. Joel's been going to music all year and they've had a few performances but this was probably the most fun with the Palm branches.

St. Patricks Day

To celebrate St. Patricks day and our 12 year anniversary we headed to Lexington for the St. Pattricks Day parade, music, and dancing. We nearly froze to death but we had a great time. The boys loved the parade and all the beads & candy - someone even gave Paul a head of Cabbage.

After the parade we went to a little French cafe downtown then headed to Southland Christian Church to hear the African Children's Choir which was awesome. We had a great day of celebrating.

Talent Show

We hosted a talent show in the School Gym. It all started with Caleb who has been a dancing maniac all winter long. Paul turns up some music with a beat and Caleb is off doing his "Karate dancing". So we invited the boys in our neighborhood and had a blast showing off our talents. Joel did his amazing bike tricks and showed off some of his art. Caleb did his Karate dancing and some fancy flips. The other boys did jump-roping, heely-rolling, singing, cartwheels, a puppet show, joke telling, and even some foot wrestling. What fun!

The Envelope System

We went to hear Dave Ramsey last night. We're on the envelope system. : )

SNOW

Finally...it snowed on a Saturday! We've had lots of snow but it's always been during the week so by the time I get home from work it's about gone. As soon as we woke up this morning we bundeled up and headed out to play in the snow.

Snappy Jones

Joel learned to snap yesterday and he hasn't stopped...literally... he snaps while he eats, while he's reading books, while he's in bed, as soon as he wakes up, etc. When I came home from work today he said his fingers hurt...but he still snapped all night. Fun stuff.

Air Force Chaplain visits Campus

Air Force Chaplain Pendelton came to Asbury and preached in Chapel so the AF Chaplain candidates went to chapel in dress. Joel's so proud of his Daddy!

Tim & Kathy's Anniversary

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

Caleb's Bike News

Caleb learned to ride his bike without training wheels today! The boy is 4. We couldn't believe that he just took off. One minute Joel was helping him balance the next he's riding on his own, and within 20 minutes he's doing tricks. He can ride with "no hands" or "no feet" Amazing.
